PORTLAND, Ore.– Portland Police video from October 15th shows officers responding to a report of 36-year-old Eric Jonathan Hurtado stabbing people with a box cutter. Officer Daniel Hall found Hurtado outside a hotel on Southwest Broadway, stabbing another man with the box cutter. You can hear on the video, “Yeah, that’s him,”and, “He’s got a knife!” Hall fired his gun, and Hurtado fell to the ground. After he was shot, Hurtado kept trying to stab the man he’d attacked. You can hear an officer say, “Drop that. You’re gonna get shot again.” Hurtado later died at a hospital. The Multnomah County District Attorney has ruled the use of force was justified in this case, according to Oregon law.
